Heritage Middle School students Donate Clothing for Those in Need
Five years ago, students from Heritage Middle School developed the concept of H.O.P.E – meaning helping our people everywhere. As part of their group, students began collecting gently used clothing, as well as canned and gourmet goods that they sort and donate to St. George’s Episcopal Church in 极速六合彩.
“People come in and let us know how many people are in their family. We then provide for them with food or clothing based on the size of their family. We put the stuff out donated by the Heritage students - and it's gone in a week. These students are really helping to fulfill a need.” Al Nucifore, coordinates this project with Mr. Christopher Porpora, English teacher at Heritage Middle School.
Mr. Porpora credits the support of Heritage Principal, Ms. Lynnette Brunger and increasing generosity of students and their families, as well as faculty and staff within Heritage for an increase in amount of donations, but also in quality of donations.
Jazzmine Warner, 7th grade at Heritage Middle School said of the items being donated, “I’m glad because I know that these donations aren’t going to feel like hand me downs, but that it’s good stuff and the people who receive it will still be able to walk around with some pride.”
The H.O.P.E. group accepts donations on a year-round basis, with donations collected in room 315 at Heritage Middle School. All are encouraged to donate.
